DR. HEDGEWAR BLOOD BANK
Started on 19th July 1990 as One of the SEVA KARYA in the Centenary year of Respected Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar.
In 1989-90, the Centenary year of Respected Dr.
Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, the founder of R.S.S. (Rashtriya Swayansevak Sangh) it was decided that
through out the country about 100 Seva Karyas (Service Programmes) should be started in different areas and
fields. Dr. Hedgewar Raktapedhi (Blood Bank) is one of the Seva Karyas started on 19 th July 1990.
Being situated near border of Karnataka and
Andhrapradesh, Solapur has become largest medical centre in south-east Maharashtra and providing best of the
medical facilities to the patients coming from Vijaypur, Bidar, Kalburgi etc. alongwith the native
people. Compared to that Red-Cross society Blood Bank was the only source of blood to the needy
patients. So considering the need of society DHRPS started working in this field of blood banking till date.
